What is GSM and how does it impact strength?
GSM refers to the “gram per square meter, or grammage”. A basic guideline is that the higher the GSM the stronger the box.
What are the different types of paper used?
Depending on the requirement of the box, there are several different types of paper used: Fluting, Test Liner, Semi-Kraft Liner, Kraft Liner, CHIP Board and FBB Board.
When should you use the different types of paper?

  • For a regular RSC (Regular Size Carton) box, the paper used is a combination of; Test Liner, Fluting, Semi-Kraft, and Virgin Kraft Liner.

  • Fluting, Test Liner and Semi-Kraft is composed of mostly recycled paper and is used in most RSC boxes due to its low cost.

  • Virgin Kraft Liner is the most expensive paper and is composed of 100% virgin material. The advantages of this paper are that it has stronger fiber bonds and also is significantly more water resistant. We recommend that customers use the Virgin Kraft Liner sparingly and only in instances where the boxes come in contact with water or in high humidity areas.

  • CHIP Board is a high strength recycled paperboard that is usually of a higher grammage than used in RSC boxes. It is primarily used for fruit boxes due to its strength and ability to print using an Offset Printing machine.

  • FBB Board is similar to CHIP Board, except that it is made out of Virgin Material and is recommended for boxes that come into contact with food products e.g. Cake Boxes, Pizza Boxes etc.
    • What is Fluting?
    Fluting is a type of paper, but it is also a description of the middle layer in a box that is made of continuous folded paper. This layer provides the box with strength to better hold weight during stacking.
    Do we do printing?
    Yes. We do both Offest and Flexo printing
    What is the difference between Flexo and Offset Printing?
    Flexo is less precise but is also lower cost. This is an ideal solution for common RSC boxes used in industry. Offest Printing is more precise and will result in a clearer print. This is ideal for promotional boxes or intricate designs.
    What are the additional costs?
    For non-repeat orders under 10,000pcs, there is a one-time origination cost that includes either the printing plates specific to that order or the die cost (for die-cut boxes). This amount varies according to the size and complexity of the box and will be provided as an “origination cost”.
    What is our Minimum Order Quantity?
    Depending on the printing requirements we require a minimum order of 500 pcs.
